Millions of Americans continue to be affected by unemployment despite a downward trend in numbers.
Here in Louisiana, the unemployment rate in January was 7.6 percent. That s up from 5.1 percent in January 2020, before the pandemic began, but down from a historic high in May, when it was 13.1 percent.
The American Rescue Plan signed into law last week by President Joe Biden will provide a boost to many Americans, but the process isn t always easy.

Despite record low travel because of the pandemic in 2020, people are once again taking to the sky.
According to the TSA, almost 1.3 million people passed through airport security checkpoints Thursday; that s the highest level since January 3rd.
It s typical for air travel to pick up in March as students across the country go on spring break. Analysts also believe more people may feel comfortable flying as they get vaccinated for COVID-19.

The Council on Aging came up with this really neat, really tasty idea that could make you the winner of nearly everything a bartender could ask for and, at the same time, help a great nonprofit do some great work.
âSo we figured, why not bring it to the people?â smiles Council on Aging Executive Director Kathy Boudreaux. âSo weâll give âem whatever they need for their upcoming wedding or family reunion or whatever theyâre planning, whenever we can open society up again.â
