The Boys Round Here singer came under attack after debuting the tune during a TV performance on New Year s Eve, revealing he d penned the track about his romance with fiancee Gwen Stefani. However, some of the lyrics in the chorus didn t sit well with viewers as Shelton sang, Girl, your love can make a man feel rich on minimum wage. Twitter trolls took aim at the musician for the use of the tone deaf reference amid the Covid-19 pandemic, during which so many businesses have been forced to shutter, while millions of people have been left out of work or struggling to make ends meet.
