Colorado Law Professor Suzette Malveaux Could Become The First Black Woman Appointed To The 10 Circuit Federal Court If selected, her appointment would likely be historic for the Black LGBTQ community. She’s sometimes mistaken for her twin sister with whom she bears a striking resemblance; Emmy award-winning CNN National Correspondent Suzanne. Malveaux, 54, of Denver, however, is a bonafide badass in her own right, in the world of law. There’s been recent buzz that the Harvard University and New York University Law-educated former civil rights attorney-turned-law-professor’s name may be being circulated by the Biden administration as a contender to fill one of two federal judgeship vacancies on the Tenth Circuit Federal Court, which covers Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico and parts of Oklahoma.

Legal experts: Stein mislead the public on bullying case brief - Carolina Journal

The release announces Stein filed a friend-of-the-court brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to “preserve schools’ ability to address cyberbullying and other forms of off-campus bullying that substantially affect students’ education.” Mahanoy Area School District v. B.L., a case concerning the ability of schools to punish students for off-campus speech.” The press release states, “But the lower court in this case ruled that schools may never regulate students’ off-campus speech,” a grossly distorted claim counter to any plain reading of the recent court ruling at issue. Groups Sue EPA Over PA Coal Plant Air Pollution In Indiana County

Reid Frazier / StateImpact Pennsylvania Environmental groups are suing the EPA in federal court over what they call an inadequate plan to reduce air pollution in Western Pennsylvania.  The lawsuit centers on the EPA’s approval of a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection plan to lower sulfur dioxide emissions at four coal-fired power plants in Indiana County. Sulfur dioxide is a byproduct of burning coal, and can cause health impacts over periods of just a few minutes, according to the EPA.  Charlie McPhedran, an attorney with EarthJustice, one of the plaintiffs, said the plan the EPA approved allows two of the plants to exceed recommended pollution limits over short periods of time, as long as their average pollution levels over a period of days or weeks stay below their recommended threshold. The Seward Power Plant, in New Florence, Pa., can average its emissions over 30 days.
