Final webinar on the Mid-Barataria project May 25, 2021, by Zlatan Hrvacevic The final community conversation webinar on the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion project will take place on Tuesday, May 25 at 6:00 p.m. The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers recently released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and the LA TIG released its Draft Restoration Plan on the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion. The release of these two documents represents a critical milestone in the permitting process for the project. CPRA, the Environmental Law Institute (ELI), the Louisiana Trustee Implementation Group (LA TIG), and Restore the Mississippi River Delta have partnered to host a virtual webinars on the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion as an informal opportunity to learn more about the project and how to provide formal public comments to USACE.

(File photo) Facebook Share An amendment to the U.S. Constitution guaranteeing a right to a healthy environment is the call issued in a new book by Franklin Kury, who more than 50 years ago, as a newly elected Pennsylvania state senator, drafted and championed an Environmental Rights Amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution. That amendment was enacted on Earth Day 1970 and ratified by Pennsylvania’s voters one year later. Forward-looking states like Hawaii and Montana followed suit, enacting strong environmental protections in their own state constitutions.
