Businesses are required to hold a licence for tattooing, including cosmetic tattooing. Tattoo services that must be done by a licensed technician include microblading, feathering, ombre, other eyebrow tattoos, eyeliner, lips and beauty marks. Community Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability Committee chairperson Maurie Soars said it was important for businesses to be licensed by Council. “Tattooing is serious business, which is why it’s essential that these businesses and technicians have the right qualifications to comply with current infection control standards,” Cr Soars said.

Laguna Beach opens refreshed Main Beach restrooms, new water bottle refill station

Laguna Beach Local News By Breeana Greenberg, Special to the Independent Laguna Beach unveiled its newly renovated South Main Beach Restroom and water bottle refill station at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 4. The old restroom had five toilet stalls for women and two for men. The Men’s restroom now has two urinals and one toilet stall.  The Women’s restroom has four toilet stalls. With summer approaching, the additional commodes will help ease the bathroom traffic for beachgoers. The city started the design process for the renovation in 2014. Initially, the City council had looked to demolish the 40-year-old restroom and replace it with a slightly larger one in its place. Ultimately, the city decided on internal renovations, energy efficiency upgrades, and ADA improvements of the existing building at a cost of $579,563.

Reading ranked 101-200 out of 1,115 institutions in the world who took part, and 21 among UK universities, with an overall score of 84.5. Reading also ranked in the top 30 in three categories. The annual THE Global Impact Rankings, now in their third year, scores higher education institutions on their work towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 17 SDGs call for action to tackle global issues including poverty, inequality, and environmental threats such as climate change.
