In March, a photo of National Tainan First Senior High School student Yang Tzu-chen (楊子賝) picking up cigarette butts off a drain cover with chopsticks went viral after being shared on social media. Many netizens praised Yang s behavior and urged smokers to properly dispose of cigarette butts to protect the environment.

Feb 4, 2021 While sorting through donated clothes a man working at the center found a lot of cash inside one item. According to the Taichung Nantung District Environmental Protection Bureau, the 28-year-old Cleanup Team member was going through bags at a collection site when he found about $10,140 inside red envelopes stuck in the pockets of a piece of clothing. The worker notified his supervisor and the bag containing the money was taken to a local police station. Officers there found receipts and other documents identifying the owner, a 72-year-old woman. She said she’d been saving up for retirement and for her daughter’s wedding gift and her husband donated the clothing without realizing the cash was inside.
