This, after one of the agency’s policies was shortlisted from a total of 55 nominated policies from 36 countries by the World Future Council (WFC) for its Future Policy Award 2021 (FPA 2021).
Dubbed as the “Oscar on best policies,” the FPA is the first and only award that celebrates policies for the benefit of present and future generations on an international level. This year’s FPA puts the spotlight on the most effective policy solutions that minimize the adverse effects of exposure to chemicals on human health and the environment.
Among the shortlisted policies is DENR Administrative Order 2013-24, also known as the Chemical Control Order for Lead and Lead Compounds (CCO), which bans the use of lead in the production of paints and other processes, including the manufacture of toys, school supplies, cosmetics, and food contact packaging materials.

MARAWI CITY, May 9 (PIA) As the city government steps up its efforts for solid waste management, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau called for the cooperation of residents for waste segregation.
DENR-EMB Region 10 focal person Abbas Lao urged the different households in the city to support the government by segregating their garbage for the effective collection and disposal of solid waste.
Lao echoed his call during Friday s episode of Kalilintad Andaka program of DXSO Radyo Pilipinas Marawi. Hinihingi po natin sa mga kababayan natin na magcooperate sila sa program natin kasi one of the very important components of solid waste management is the cooperation of the different household. Yung pagmamanage sa basura natin kung pwede po strictly iimplement nila ang segregation, said Lao.

In this regard, pollution watchdog EcoWaste Coalition urged crematorium operators on Thursday, April 29 to employ remedial measures to control the smoke coming from their facilities, which are in the business of burning corpses.
“Crematorium operators should waste no time in assessing their compliance to environmental regulations following these incidents,” said Thony Dizon, chemical safety campaigner of EcoWaste Coalition.
“They need not wait for aggrieved citizens to turn to the media or for a video of thick smoke billowing from the stack to go viral before taking the right action,” he pointed out.
The group noted that residents of Muntinlupa City and Santa Rosa have voiced their complaints on television regarding the stinking odor and thick smoke coming from public crematoriums not far from their homes.
