JOHOR BAHRU: The dangerous attitude of taking the standard operating procedures (SOPs) lightly and behaving as though the Covid-19 pandemic is already over will only burden the country’s healthcare facilities, said Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

In expressing his concern about the critical Covid-19 situation, the Sultan of Johor said the number of cases showed no sign of decreasing and several states, including Johor, have now become high-risk states.
“Everytime when it seems like we have turned a corner for the better against Covid-19, the number of cases spikes again. A sense of hopelessness and recklessness has begun to set in.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 Lawyer Kamal Hisham Jaafar has denied he posed as a legal representative of the Johor Royal Palace, after he was recently accused of embezzling more than RM185,000 from an advertising company in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The 51-year-old lawyer said that he will sue Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and one senior police officer over the “slanderous” charges.

I SALUTE the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar for proudly and rightfully acknowledging recently the significant role played by the Chinese in the economic development of Johor and asserting that they are Malaysians and not “pendatang”.
I would like to clarify the pioneering role of the Chinese in opening up Johor’s jungles to cultivate pepper and gambier which were the mainstay of the state’s economy until the end of the first decade of the 20th century.
The establishment of pepper and gambier plantations by the Chinese in Johor actually gained momentum beginning from the mid-1840s. These pioneer Chinese planters had mainly shifted from Singapore due to the shortage of land for planting these commercial crops.
