JOHOR BARU: A three-year-old girl has died of heat stroke after being left in a car for about five hours by her grandmother.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that the incident happened on Sunday (April 25) and police were alerted after a report was lodged by a doctor at the Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) at around 6.41pm notifying about the child’s death inside a car at Sungai Tiram here.
“Investigations found that the grandmother had taken the victim and her elder sister to a school in Sungai Tiram on that day at around 1pm.
“The grandmother did not realise she had left her grandchild inside the car, ” Supt Sohaimi said on Wednesday (April 28).

The Klang Valley made up more than half of the new cases today.
Other states with more than 100 new cases include Sarawak, Johor, Perak, Penang and Sabah.
On the flip side, the number of active cases continued to decline as recoveries outpaced new cases.
Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reported a total of 3,414 new recoveries today.
The number of patients in the intensive care unit is also at the lowest level since Jan 14.
Active cases: 32,076
Another six people died from Covid-19, bringing the death toll to 1,062.
BATU PAHAT (Bernama): A human skull was found at KM122.4 of the North-South Expressway from Yong Peng heading to Pagoh near here on Friday (Feb 19).
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Ismail Dollah said the human skull is believed to be of a car driver who was involved in a road accident about 10 months ago.
He said the police were alerted on the discovery at 1.10 pm when highway maintenance workers were cleaning a slope drain on the left side of the highway. The skull was found near a car that was hidden behind the bushes on the slope, about 67m from the highway.
PASIR GUDANG: A 21-year-old man was killed after the car he was in rammed into a tree at Jalan Pasir Gudang here.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that the victim was driving from Pasir Gudang town and was heading towards Jalan Taman Bukit Pasir Putih when the incident took place at 6.21pm on Friday (Feb 5). The victim is believed to have lost control of the car and skidded to the side of the road where he crashed into the tree. He suffered serious injuries on the head and legs due to the collision and died at the scene, he said in a statement here on Friday.
