The man wanted in connection to a Wednesday shooting in Evangeline Parish has been arrested.
The Evangeline Parish Sheriff s Office says 55-year-old Rodney Van Bernard was arrested on Monday, April 5 by Acadia Parish Sheriff s deputies.
The Sheriff s Office says that Bernard was wanted following an shooting that occurred on March 31 in the 1000 block of Angie Lane.
Deputies say the shooting allegedly stemmed from a verbal altercation between Bernard and the victim who was shot in the lower left leg.
While transporting the victim to the hospital, deputies say Bernard flagged down the deputy responding to the shooting scene. Acadian Ambulance was then contacted to transport the victim to Rapides Medical Center for treatment.

VILLE PLATTE, La. â The Evangeline Parish Sheriff s Office have arrested an Elton man after he evaded deputies on a motorcycle. Deputies also arrested a Ville Platte woman who failed to yield to emergency vehicles and evaded police while they were assisting in the initial pursuit.
According to a release, EPSO was notified Wednesday that the Eunice Police Department was in pursuit of a motorcycle heading westbound on Highway 190, coming into Evangeline Parish at speeds in excess of 130 mph.
Deputies say the motorcycle turned onto the Old Basile Highway, continuing at speeds of over 130 mph.

NBC Human remains found in a rural area of Evangeline Parish, Louisiana in 2018 have been identified as belonging to Erica Nicole Hunt, an Opelousas woman reported missing in 2016, the Louisiana State Police Department announced last week.
The skeletal remains were found during a search for a missing child at the time, but not identified until two years later through the efforts of the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services (FACES) Laboratory and the DNA Doe Project, Louisiana State Police Troop I spokesman Thomas Gossen stated in the release.
