WADA will present its case robustly again when Sun Yang case returns to CAS (Xinhua) 13:22, December 24, 2020 BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said it would present its case robustly again after the Swiss Federal Tribunal (SFT) upheld Sun Yang s appeal and set aside the previous ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to ban the Chinese swimmer for eight years. According to the WADA s statement, when the case returns to the CAS panel, it will be chaired by a different chairperson. The CAS found the three-time Olympic champion guilty in February of refusing to cooperate with sample collectors during a visit to his Hangzhou home in September 2018 and handed him an eight-year ban.
The Chinese world champion swimmer has successfully challenged his eight-year doping ban and will have his case heard again at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Chinese swimmer Sun Yang has had his eight-year ban for doping violations referred back to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after an appeal to a Swiss court.
Sun was banned for eight years by CAS in February after it accepted an appeal from WADA against a decision by swimming body FINA to clear Sun of wrongdoing for his conduct during a 2018 test.
Sun appealed against that decision and WADA has issued a statement sayng they have been informed the Swiss Federal Tribunal had upheld a challenge but not made any comment on the substance of the case.

The World Anti-Doping Agency says a Swiss court has overturned an eight-year doping ban against Chinese swimmer Sun Yang and ordered the case back to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for a second time but with a different chairman of the judges.
In February, CAS found the three-time Olympic champion guilty of refusing to cooperate with sample collectors during a visit to his home in September 2018 that turned confrontational. Wada brought the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after world swimming governing body Fina had issued the now 29-year-old Yang with only a warning.
