Susan Flores was served with a civil lawsuit Friday in connection with the disappearance of Cal Poly student Kristin Smart.
The Smart family is suing Susan Flores and her boyfriend for emotional damages in connection to the Cal Poly student s 1996 disappearance.
Susan, who lives in Arroyo Grande, now has 30 days to respond.
She is the mother of Paul Flores, who has been charged with Kristin s 1996 murder. Her estranged husband and Paul s father, Ruben Flores, is charged as an accessory after the fact, accused of helping Paul hide Kristin s body.

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Susan Flores, the mother of Paul Flores, has been named as a defendant in a civil suit filed by the family of Kristin Smart.
Susan Flores, as well as her boyfriend, Mike McConville, are accused in the lawsuit of helping Ruben Flores remove Smart s body from Ruben s property in February 2020.
The lawsuit was filed in April and originally listed Ruben Flores as the defendant as well as two other defendants who were yet to be unnamed. At the time of the filing of the civil suit, James R. Murphy Jr., who is representing the Smart family, identified Susan Flores and McConville as the other two unnamed defendants.
For the first time in more than two decades, arrests and clues about what may have happened to the college student who disappeared in 1996, and whose remains have not been found.
