Locked in: Pukekohe to host 2021 New Zealand event Repco Supercars Championship
Pukekohe Park Raceway has been confirmed as the location for the 2021 ITM Auckland SuperSprint.
One of New Zealand’s largest annual sporting events, the ITM Auckland SuperSprint will stage the penultimate round of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship.
The two-day event will be held across November 6-7, and will be the first event in New Zealand since September 2019.
It comes after the recent announcement of the trans-Tasman travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand.

This year also marks the 20th anniversary since the championship s debut at Pukekohe, in what was the first ever points round to take place outside of Australia.

Scott McLaughlin has finished 14th at Barber Motorsports Park to commence his first full-time IndyCar Series campaign with Team Penske.
McLaughlin, who won three straight Supercars Championship crowns between 2018 and 2020, ran as high as ninth following a dramatic first-lap incident.
Alex Palou, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, managed to win the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by AmFirst, having pipped Arrow McLaren SP s pole-sitter Pato O’Ward on strategy before holding off McLaughlin’s Australian teammate and 2014 series champion Will Power.
Cam Waters snares double Sunday pole at Symmons Plains

Cam Waters secured a brace of pole positions for the two Supercars Championship races at Symmons Plains.
Both sessions would once see the field split in two to try and reduce any potential track issues around the short Symmons Plains circuit, but without the knockout element seen ahead of race one on Saturday.
Qualifying for round seven saw Waters set the early pace in Group A during the eight minutes of running, but it would only be after a quick trip to the pits that the fastest laps would then be set.

Jamie Whincup has taken his first win of 2021 and 123rd in total with a strong display in the first of two Supercars Championship races today at Symmons Plains, ending the winning streak of Triple Eight team-mate Shane Van Gisbergen in the process.
Coming in to the race qualifying second on the grid, Whincup was able to harass pole-sitter Cam Waters throughout the race, getting a leg up on the Tickford Racing driver late in the 44 lap outing to take the race lead.
Leading home a one-two finish for Triple Eight, Whincup was able to extend his team’s dominance at the Tasmanian venue to 22 victories from the last 32 races, also making it eight wins in a row for the team which started at last year’s Bathurst 1000.

Shane van Gisbergen has had to settle for equalling a Supercars record rather than setting a new one.
After six races of the season, the Kiwi driver was on track to surpass the mark for the best start to a campaign, having equalled that of Allan Moffat (1977) and Mark Skaife (1994). However, it was teammate Jamie Whincup who ended van Gisbergen s bid to etch his name alone in the history books, winning the first of the two Tasmania Supersprint races on Sunday.
