Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt believes his side can still make the top eight despite seeing their hopes take a blow after playing to a 2-2 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday.
Chiefs scored twice in the opening 13 minutes through Happy Mashiane and Erick Mathoho but Celtic pegged the visitors back with goals from Neo Maema and Victor Letsoalo to claim their 12th draw of the season.
Hunt bemoaned the fact that his side once again threw away a lead. Well it s the story of our season, the Amakhosi mentor told SuperSport TV. Swallows coach Brandon Truter has blamed their blistering start to the season for the lofty expectations that have left critics running their mouths on their recent spate of results.
Though Swallows have lost only once in their 24 DStv Premiership games this season, they have drawn 15 – 11 of which have been recorded in their last 13 games.
They had won six out of the first nine league games, which placed them among the early pace setters along with reigning champions Mameodi Sundowns, and have not dropped into the bottom half of the log since earning promotion.
The comforts of fifth-place is currently being overshadowed by what has become an overdose of draws, which in turn has created a perception that the good work done by Truter is becoming undone.
