Surat: Two of the biggest Covid-19 hospitals in the region the New Civil Hospital (NCH) and the Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) have closed their gates to new patients on Wednesday. This, the administrations attribute to the acute shortage of oxygen supply. Despite having beds and necessary infra to handle even critical patients, these hospitals have turned their backs on severely infected patients only to avoid a crisis-like situation in managing patients already under treatment there. Till Monday, many ambulances were bringing in Covid-19 patients round the clock.
