Sembcorp Energy India wins 400 MW capacity solar power project

To develop the project in Rajasthan connected to the state’s transmission utility RVPN
Sembcorp Energy India Limited (SEIL) on Friday announced winning bid for 400 megawatts (MW) solar power project.
SEIL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries. It has a portfolio of thermal and renewable assets of approximately 4.37 gigawatts (GW), including over 1,700MW of renewable power capacity in operation, spread across seven states.
In a statement the company said that it won the bid through its renewable energy subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra. SEIL has received the letter of award (LoA) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop the project in Rajasthan connected to the state’s transmission utility Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPN). The project’s entire output will be sold to SECI under a 25-year long-term power purchase agreement.

India will look to be more innovative in its approach to garner additional investments worth Rs 1.75 lakh crore for having 35 GW of renewable power generation capacity next year to meet the ambitious target of 175 GW of clean energy capacity by 2022.
At present, the country has a total installed renewable energy capacity of 90 GW. This includes 39 GW of wind and 37 GW of solar generation capacity.
Around 50 GW of renewable energy capacity is under construction and there is also a strong pipeline of 30 GW for new bids. There is a fund requirement of Rs 1.75 lakh crore to achieve the balance capacity of 35 GW (under bidding/ to be bid out/ auctioned) to achieve an overall target of 175 GW, Director General of Solar Power Developers Association Shekhar Dutt told

Adani Renewable Energy Holding Eight Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Green Energy Limited received LOA for 600 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid project from Solar Energy Corporation of India. The tariff for this project capacity has been fixed at Rs 2.41 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for 25 years. The project is expected to be commissioned in a duration of 18 months from the date of signing the PPA (power purchase agreement), the company said.
With this project, total renewable energy project capacity of Adani Green now stands at 14,795 MW, of which 2,950 MW projects are operational and 11,845 MW projects are under implementation.
