Controversy as Noosa Satanists celebrate what they say is an important win for religious freedom

Share on Twitter Satanists are celebrating what they are calling, a small but important win for religious freedom after succeeding in having the pentagram added among the symbols of recognised faiths displayed at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital’s multi-faith centre. The Noosa Temple of Satan said it is working with the hospital to have its spiritual leader officially recognised as a minister.  “We think it s important that Satanists can access the right spiritual support during their time of need,” the Temple’s leader, Samael Dema Gorgon, said on Facebook Noosa Temple of Satan co-founder Trevor Bell, 56, said it wasn t a particularly difficult step to take.

UPDATE: Woman seriously injured in crash near Tin Can Bay

Premium Content Subscriber only UPDATE 6PM: A woman is being flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after suffering serious injuries in a crash between a car and a truck on Tin Can Bay Rd on Monday afternoon. The two vehicles collided near the road s intersection with Neerdie Rd just before 4pm. Police said the car collided with the back of the truck, and then burst into flames. The woman, in her 40s, was suffered head and neck injuries; she was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition. Paramedics were called to the Toolara Forest crash just before 4pm. Woman falls 15m onto rocks after slipping in national park

Premium Content Subscriber only UPDATE 9AM: A rescue helicopter crew was able to winch a paramedic into a remote area of Noosa National Park after a woman fell about 15m onto rocks. The paramedic was lowered down to the Paradise Caves section of the park to treat the woman, aged in her 20s, for suspected spinal injuries and cuts to her face. An RACQ LifeFlight spokeswoman said it was believed she had slipped while on a scenic walk.
