Sir Tom Jones has announced a one-off performance of his upcoming album, Surrounded By Time , in July.
The 80-year-old music legend has re-imagined tracks by the likes of Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens and Michael Kiwanuka for the collection, which is released on April 23.
And on July 27, the Not Unusual hitmaker will play the LP in its entirety live at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

A press release about the LP teased: Surrounded By Time marks out new territory with a sonic landscape of outstanding musicianship and a vocal delivery that re-imagines a diverse set of songs of personal importance that have impacted the artist throughout a long, unpredictable but undeniably impressive career.

In a new interview with Jools Holland, Jones opened up about growing old, making a new record and memories of his wife, who died in 2016. The Welsh legend said: Songs take on a different meaning from experiences you’ve had in life. So, after living 80 years I thought Let’s do an album with songs I’ve collected over the years but songs that mean more to me now than before. Two songs, in particular, are inspired by Melinda Trenchard, who he married in 1957.

Tom Jones is worried for musicians just starting out, who haven t been able to play concerts amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 80-year-old music legend admitted nothing compares to the feeling of playing to a live audience, and said it must be so stifling for young aspiring artists who have had the opportunity to perform to a crowd taken from them during the global health crisis.
