Czech deputy PM and industry and trade minister Karel Havlíček says that in the coming days the Russian company Rosatom will be excluded from a list of companies bidding to build a nuclear unit at the Czech Dukovany plant. Mr. Havlíček made the comment on Czech Television on Sunday, a day after the Prague government’s decision to expel 18 Russian diplomats over Moscow’s involvement in a deadly explosion in Moravia in 2014.
The minister had earlier said on CNN Prima at that it was very unlikely to virtually out of the question that Rosatom would be allowed to take part in the tender process for Dukovany, which is regarded as one of the country’s key strategic investments.
Archeologists working in Brno discovered the lower part of an 18,000-year-old skull of the now extinct woolly rhinoceros. The discovery was made during a dig in Brno s Vídeňská street. The skull still contains the roots of some of the animal’s teeth. The team believes that the rhinoceros was brought to the location by hunter-gatherers who may have resided in the area.
“We have found several old bones in this area, such as pieces of a mammoth and of other animals”, Lenka Sedláčková from the Archai Brno organisation told Czech Television on Friday. The skull fragment will be transported to the Antropos Institute for cleaning and research, after which it will be added to the collection of the Moravian Museum.
Health Minister Petr Arenberger told Czech Television on Friday that he will consider bringing back limitations on the number of people that can gather together in outside and inside spaces. The statement comes ahead of the planned easing of coronavirus restrictions on Monday, which, for example, includes the possibility for up to 20 people meeting outside and 10 people meeting in inside spaces.
Mr. Arenberger said that it would be better from a medical standpoint to keep the rule that only a maximum of two people can meet together inside or outside. The decision, he said, will be announced on Saturday afternoon.
