Pipistrel enters partnership with C-Astral to upgrade NUUVA v20 planes
6. February, 2021
Ajdovščina – Pipistrel, a Slovenian ultra light plane developer, has paired up with another hi-tech Slovenian company, C-Astral Aerospace, as its main industrial and development partner to work on expanding its NUUVA v20 unmanned cargo plane beyond cargo transport.
The NUUVA V20 was originally designed to transport cargo, such as spare parts, high-value items or medicinal devices.
It will be now upgraded with a range of equipment, advanced electro-optic and electronic sensors, and data connections to make it fit for remote sensing, reconnaissance and observation.
Pipistrel said the partnership of two Ajdovščina-based companies, which are among the world leaders in aviation industry and unmanned systems, brings innovative solutions not only for unmanned cargo planes but also for the advanced electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) platform.

ROME, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) Just weeks after it was formally created by the merger between Italian-American carmaker Fiat-Chrysler and French rival Peugeot, Stellantis interest in the nascent flying car sector is already starting to take off.
Fiat-Chrysler first announced a cooperation agreement with California-based technology company Archer Aviation last month, combining Archer s research on Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing Aircraft with the Italian-American company s low-cost supply chain, capabilities with advanced composite materials, and the company s experience with engineering and design.
The cooperation deal is expected to produce a working vehicle this year, with volume manufacturing expected by 2023.
NASA has optimistically projected that urban-air mobility in our country alone could generate close to $500 billion in the near-future, but the biggest obstacle to overcome is the obvious lack of any infrastructure, a situation that Urban Air Port hopes to immediately address.
Video of Urban Air-Port Cars need roads. Trains need rails. Planes need airports. eVTOLs will need Urban Air Ports, Urban Air Port Founder and Executive Chairman Ricky Sandhu states in an official press release. Over a hundred years ago, the world’s first commercial flight took off, creating the modern connected world. Urban Air Port will improve connectivity across our cities, boost productivity and help the U.K. to take the lead in a whole new clean global economy. Flying cars used to be a futuristic flight of fancy. Air-One will bring clean urban air transport to the masses and unleash a new airborne world of zero emission mobility.

Backed by UKRI’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), the programme is part of the £125m Future Flight Challenge that will be rolled out over the next four years. This initial phase – supported by £4.5m – is aiming to advance electrification, autonomous flight and sustainable aviation networks under its three different branches, two of which will be headed by GKN Aerospace.
Skybus is targeting the development of a large eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off & Landing) vehicle capable of transporting 30-50 passengers. According to GKN Aerospace, the project will seek to transform the ‘park & ride’ concept, taking mass transit to the skies over heavily congested routes and providing a brand new mode of transport while also relieving pressure on ter
UK government backs the first electric Urban Air Port in the world

A “Pop-up” airport and charging hub for future electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, including air taxis and autonomous delivery drones has received backing from the UK government. eVTOL aircraft are expected to be widely used in the future for transporting people and cargo across cities. The new pop up airport is a partnership between Hyundai Motor Group, Coventry City Council, and the UK government.
The new site is known as Air One and is meant to demonstrate the potential for urban air mobility for the UK and worldwide. According to its supporters, Urban Air Port will reduce congestion, reduce air pollution, and help the UK achieve a zero-carbon future. The location could also be integrated with electric vehicles and sustainable public transport.
