The House of Representatives passed a bill that would provide Americans with $2,000 stimulus checks on Monday, more than trebling the size of the $600 direct payments provided under the $900 billion relief package passed in Congress last week.
Lawmakers passed the bill by a 275-134 split, with all but two Democrats voting in favor of the proposal, and 44 Republicans breaking with the bulk of their party to back the increase to the second round of direct payments.
