Senate orders Customs to return rice seized in Ibadan markets The Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges has directed the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to return the bags of rice and money which its officials allegedly seized recently from some shops in the Oja Oba and Bodija markets in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Officials of the Nigeria Customs Service had last week stormed the Oja Oba market and carted away eight truckloads of rice and money found in the shops of the affected traders. This clandestine operation came barely a month after they raided the Bodija International Market, where they also carted away numerous bags of rice.

Alleged assault: Senate Committee gives CCT boss 2 weeks to defend himself On Kindly Share This Story: The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, on Tuesday, gave the Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Mr Danladi Umar, two weeks to defend a petition against him. The Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Ayo Akinyelure, issued the directive when Umar appeared before the committee on Tuesday in Abuja to answer allegations of assault by a security guard, Mr Clement Sagwak. Sagwak, a security guard had through his Counsel, Timzing Ramnap, petitioned the Senate, accusing Umar of alleged assault. NAN reports that Sagwak, 22, and an employee of Jul Reliable Guards Services Limited, told the Senate in his petition that he was assaulted by Umar and a policeman attached to him after he informed him (Umar) that his car was not properly parked.
