House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer have called for President Trump to be removed from office via the 25th Amendment. I join the Senate Democratic leader in calling on the vice president to remove this president by immediately invoking the 25th Amendment, Pelosi said at a news conference Thursday. If the vice president and Cabinet do not act, the Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment.
Pelosi said she does not expect they will wait long for Vice President Pence to respond. It will be yes or it will be no, she said.

The top US Democrats called on Thursday for President Donald Trump s immediate removal from office after he incited his supporters to storm the Capitol in a shocking assault on the heart of American democracy.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Mr Trump should be urgently removed from power, branding him a very dangerous person who should not continue in office. This is an emergency of the highest magnitude, she said as she urged Vice President Mike Pence and Mr Trump s cabinet to invoke the 25th amendment.
It followed an earlier similar call from Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, who said Mr Trump should not hold office one day longer.

1. Senate control for Democrats is within reach
With Warnock s projected victory, Democrats are one win away from control of the Senate, making it more likely that President-elect Joe Biden would be able to pass his agenda through both the House and Senate. If Perdue prevails over Ossoff, Republicans would be able to foil many of the White House s plans.
According to Fox News Voter Analysis, voters clearly saw the Georgia runoffs as a battle for control of the Senate. Most said which party controlled the Senate was an important factor if not the single most important factor to their vote.
The president-elect faces the possibility of having unified Democratic control in Congress.
Biden has long called the recently-passed $900 billion relief measure a “down payment” on a future, broader package, but with Sen.-elect Raphael Warnock’s (D) victory in one Georgia Senate runoff and Democrat Jon Ossoff’s lead in a second, the president-elect indicated he will press hard for a new deal.

“Georgia s voters delivered a resounding message yesterday: they want action on the crises we face and they want it right now. On COVID-19, on economic relief, on climate, on racial justice, on voting rights and so much more. They want us to move, but move together,” Biden said in a statement on the Georgia races.
