ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said the PML-N did not want to resign but wanted to put a blame of not resigning on the PPP.
“The PML-N did not intend to resign from the Parliament but only want to only put a blame on us,” he said while talking to the newsmen on Wednesday. Gilani said the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the PPP will discuss all these issue. “If the CEC of the PPP asked to resign, the PML-N will not resign,” he said.
Asked about reports of reopening of Swiss case against former president Asif Ali Zardari, Gilani said Swiss cases are now shut cases. “The opening of case against Zardari just a mischievous attempt,” he said.

PESHAWAR: The police have arrested the five accused named in the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the son of the slain Anti-Terrorism Court judge Aftab Afridi.
Aftab Afridi was attacked by unidentified gunmen while being driven from Peshawar to Islamabad on Sunday at the Ambar Interchange on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway in Swabi district. The FIR registered by his son Majid Afridi noted that Aftab Afridi had attended a wedding in Peshawar and was proceeding to the federal capital.
Aftab Afridi’s wife Bibi Zainab, daughter-in-law Kiran and her three-year old son Mohammad Sanan were also martyred in the attack. Kiran was said to be six months’ pregnant.

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Monday that it was PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s decision to seek the support of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) lawmakers for his election to the post. They approached me that we, a four member group headed by Dilawar, want to join you. Then they didn t approach me, they approached chairman sahab [Bilawal], he said.
He made the revelation in an interview to a local media outlet, where he said he was neither interested in the seat of the Senate chairmanship nor leader of the opposition, but it was Bilawal who made the decision. ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday made a formal offer to the opposition on the floor of the National Assembly for constitution of a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan moved a motion in the House, authorizing the speaker to constitute a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms comprising members from both government and opposition benches.
The members from the main opposition parties, including the PML-N and the PPP immediately opposed the move as they said the opposition parties have not been consulted on the issue. PML-N parliamentarian Khurram Dastgir said the objective is to take on rigging in polls at the state level and the opposition be consulted before initiating any move.
