Tester Votes For, Then Against Keystone Pipeline
We had one caller into our radio show on Friday morning who was really pleased to hear that Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) had voted in support of the Keystone Pipeline. Finally some hope that bipartisan achievement could actually deliver something for the American people, she said.
I appreciated where she was coming from, and felt bad for throwing cold water on the Friday a.m. vote. But I told her if Tester really wanted to block Biden s efforts to block the Keystone Pipeline, he could stop it- especially in a 50-50 US Senate. His vote would be nothing more than purely symbolic, especially since the Democrat-run House is unlikely to support the Keystone Pipeline.

Biden spent his first week in office signing record levels of executive orders.
But that’s not enough according to Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer who is calling on Biden to declare a “climate emergency”.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Schumer says a “climate emergency” would allow Biden to bypass legislative debate and use executive authority.
He says “he can do many, many things under the emergency powers .that he could do without legislation.”
Massachusetts Sen, Ed Markey says the ‘climate’ is the reason why the Democrats need to repeal the filibuster say they can ram through their “climate change agenda”.
Growing Number of GOP Senators Back $2,000 Stimulus Checks After House Passes Bill
Three Republican senators voiced support for $2,000 stimulus payments as the House approved a bill containing the increased checks on Monday night.
The House passed a bill to include the $2,000 stimulus payments after President Donald Trump last week called for them. On Sunday night, Trump passed a stimulus bill that included $600 direct payments.
It’s not yet clear if the Senate will join the House in passing the bill.
Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), David Perdue (R-Ga.), and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said they back the measure.
“I agree with the president that millions of working-class families are in dire need of additional relief, which is why I support $2,000 in direct payments to Americans struggling due to the pandemic,” Rubio said in a Monday statement.
