A spokeswoman for the National Security Council disputed Congressional intelligence leaders’ characterization of the federal response to widespread unauthorized intrusion into federal and private-sector networks as leaderless, saying Deputy National Security Advisor Anne Neuberger has been in charge of coordinating the effort.
On Tuesday, the chair and ranking member of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee sent a letter to the heads of agencies making up the Unified Coordination Group and urged them to choose a leader.

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey said Wednesday he looks forward to having the opportunity to serve on the Senate Select Intelligence Committee as the nation faces threats of domestic terrorism at home and complex challenges abroad.
Casey, D-Scranton, announced that he was named to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, which oversees the U.S. intelligence community and influences U.S. foreign and national security policy.
The Virginia Democrat, who is set to become the chairman of the intelligence committee, also called a "full sum review" of reporting obligations by public and private sector entities following cybersecurity breaches.
