In its first publicly available worldwide threat assessment report since 2019, the intelligence community is warning that the United States’ adversaries are increasingly using cyberspace to attack the country and that activities of foreign militaries will be more likely to impact civilian society.
“States’ increasing use of cyber operations as a tool of national power, including increasing use by militaries around the world, raises the prospect of more destructive and disruptive cyber activity,” according to the new report released on Tuesday. As states attempt more aggressive cyber operations, they are more likely to affect civilian populations and to embolden other states that seek similar outcomes.”

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - U.S. Senator Roy Blunt was in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, April 7.
Sen. Blunt was at Cape Central High School for a roundtable discussion on COVID-19 vaccines and reopening schools.
He had high praise for Cape Girardeau schools.
“I think almost every parent that had kids at home this year instead of in school is a big believer in in-person learning,” Sen. Blunt said. “I think it makes a big difference. You can learn more face-to-face. You can get a sense of their interest level and their confusion level or whatever level you need to get. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) led a bipartisan group of Senators in urging President Joe Biden to request at least $3 billion as part of his budget request to Congress for the adoption of 5G alternatives to Chinese-made equipment. Specifically, the Senators urged Biden to request at least $1.5 billion each for two funds established by Congress to encourage the adoption of Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) equipment, which would allow additional vendors to enter the 5G market and compete with manufacturers like Huawei, which is heavily subsidized by the Chinese government.
