Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s extraordinary governmental powers to close businesses and enact health directives amid the COVID-19 pandemic have been curtailed by state lawmakers seeking to restore more legislative oversight of the embattled Democratic governor’s coronavirus response.

Assembly Republicans introduced an impeachment resolution to remove the governor from office.
Cuomo says he will not resign amid scandals over sexual harassment accusations against him and his administration s handling of nursing homes.
The Republicans say there are too many accusations against the governor for him to continue to lead.
Since Cuomo says he has no plans to step down, some officials say they have to take it into their own hands.
There is still a long way to go for the impeachment amendment. At this point, they need bipartisan support but only a handful of Democrats in the entire Legislature are willing to put their name behind impeachment.
