House Bill 4401 looks to extend the current eviction moratorium through the beginning of July 2021. It will also put $200 million into a rent assistance fund, most of which will be for landlords who can apply for back-rent owed to them by their tenants. The caveat, which was controversial during public hearings over the weekend, is that landlords would be required to forgive 20% of the back-rent if they want to apply for those funds.
