LANSING, MI Lawsuits, protests and partisan meddling couldn’t stop Michigan’s electors from fulfilling their Constitutional duty, but the fact that so many Republican lawmakers supported overturning the will of voters raises grave concerns about America’s commitment to democracy.
President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers spent the last month sowing misinformation about his definitive loss in the November election, challenging virtually every step in the process of finalizing results. The Electoral College on Monday confirmed the victory of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, aw
Hear what happened when Michigan s electors met Monday at the state Capitol.
The process, which ordinarily flies under the radar, was in the national spotlight Monday following “credible threats of violence” according to a spokeswoman for Republican Senate leadership, and an ominous interview in which state Representative Gary Eisen (R-St. Clair Township) said he could not assure that it was going to be a safe day in Lansing.

Democratic electors were officially ascertained after Michigan’s election results were certified on Nov. 23, advancing a process required by state law to appoint electors of candidates who earned the most votes.

Trump legal adviser Jenna Ellis said on Monday that she thinks the Republican leadership in state legislatures has “been very disappointing.”
“The leadership quite frankly has been very disappointing to say, even though they’re Republicans. They’re not taking this as seriously as they should,” Ellis told CBN News in an interview.
“But I think as more and more evidence comes out and they also see how many of their own constituents are rightly very concerned about election integrity, they still do have the opportunity to do that and they really not only have the authority to do that but I believe that they have the duty and obligation to their constituents and to the Constitution.”
