Trump claims, without evidence, that he saved Mitch McConnell from losing reelection bid Ben Tobin, Louisville Courier Journal © Sam Upshaw Jr./Courier Journal President Donald Trump, left, brought Sen. Mitch McConnell up to the stage after Trump made remarks supporting former Gov. Matt Bevin s re-election campaign at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. on Nov. 4, 2019. As his apparent ire with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell continues to grow, President Donald Trump claimed Thursday night, without any evidence, that he saved the Kentucky Republican from losing his recent reelection bid. I saved at least 8 Republican Senators, including Mitch, from losing in the last Rigged (for President) Election, Trump wrote in a Christmas Eve tweet . Now they (almost all) sit back and watch me fight against a crooked and vicious foe, the Radical Left Democrats. I will NEVER FORGET!

Sanders calls on Mitch McConnell to pass $2,000 direct payments in the Senate

Wed, 12/23/2020 - 9:50pm tim Vermont Business Magazine In response to President Trump’s disapproval of the $908-billion COVID-19 relief package passed by Congress on Monday, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) issued the following statement: “In America today, millions of Americans are facing economic desperation and need help now. I have been calling on Congress for months to pass legislation to provide every working class American with $2,000 a month until the pandemic ends. Now that Senator Schumer, Speaker Pelosi and President Trump have all indicated strong support for a $2,000 direct payment the ball is in Senate Majority Leader McConnell s court. I say to Senator McConnell: Let the Senate vote immediately on a stand-alone bill to provide a $2,000 direct payment for the working class and $4,000 for couples. If no Republican objects to that bill, it could pass by unanimous consent today.”

We can achieve our democratic ideals now by passing the For the People Act

© Getty Images It has been the highest honor of my life serving New Mexico and our country in Congress, and leaving the Senate in January will be bittersweet. I look back on my time in the Senate and House enormously proud of what we’ve accomplished together. Even in a divided Congress, we enacted the most significant environmental reform law in a generation. When I authored The Frank Lautenberg Chemical Safety Act, I worked hard to gain bipartisan support, but knew it would be a difficult task to pass the legislation in the Senate. But we passed it unanimously and because of our hard work and collaboration, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency finally has the powers to protect our communities and environment from toxic chemicals like asbestos.
