Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Tuesday repeated the widely-held belief among his leftist colleagues that President Donald Trump should “not be eligible to run for office ever again,” a goal they hope to achieve as part of the forthcoming Senate impeachment trial.
“After what he has done, the consequences of which we were all witness to, Donald Trump should not be eligible to run for office ever again,” Schumer said on the Senate floor Tuesday, the last full day of Trump’s presidency.
“Let me be clear: There will be an impeachment trial in the United States Senate. There will be a vote on convicting the president for high crimes and misdemeanors. If the president is convicted, there will be a vote on barring him again,” the New York Democrat continued.

Pence officially declared Biden the winner at 3:41 a.m. EST. Not long after, Trump released a statement through a White House social media account, acknowledging Biden s win, a first. Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” Trump s statement said.

President Donald Trump did not order flags to be flown at half-staff over the White House and federal government buildings in honor of Brian D. Sicknick, the Capitol Police officer killed in riots by Trump supporters.
The president has also not contacted Sicknick s family to offer his condolences, an aide to Vice President Mike Pence told The New York Times.
Sicknick was struck over the head with a rioter s fire extinguisher after Trump incited supporters to attack the Capitol Wednesday.
