Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee took the oath of office 100 days ago and has firmly established himself in the office he ascended to, but was not elected to.
His lawyer, Thomas Tarro, filed a miscellaneous petition in Kent County Superior Court on Monday seeking court permission to issue subpoenas and depose WPRO radio s Dan Yorke about on-air comments the talk-show host made about the Zarrella fundraiser controversy.
He hasn t filed a lawsuit yet, but appears to be seeking evidence from WPRO s owner, Cumulus Media, to do so.
More specifically, the petition alleges that Yorke, on May 10, while on air, made defamatory and offensive statements about Gerald Zarrella which painted Gerald Zarrella in a false light and was stated with the intent to cause harm to his name, reputation and ethnic group from which he derives.

Just 90 minutes after a gunman killed 9 men and women in San Jose, Linda Finn of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence appeared on GoLocal LIVE to discuss what the group says is the need for the passage of critical legislation in Rhode Island.
Finn says the majority of members of the House and Senate support the passage of legislation and that it is critical for supporters to focus pressure on Senate President Dominick Ruggerio and Speaker of the House Joe Shekarchi.
There are three major bills that have a strong potential for passage in 2021 legislation that bans high capacity magazines, another bill that places restrictions on straw purchasers, and legislation to prohibit guns in schools.
