The Florida Chamber of Commerce has awarded nearly two dozen lawmakers with its “2021 Distinguished Advocate award for their work advancing the Chamber’s legislative priorities.
“These legislators showcased extraordinary leadership as architects, sponsors, or key supporters of legislation that helped grow Florida’s economy and were included in the Florida Chamber’s 2021 Jobs and Competitiveness Agenda,” Florida Chamber of Commerce President and CEO
Mark Wilson said. “Together, with the support of a united business community, these efforts will spur further economic growth, job creation and a more competitive Florida.”

Trump endorses Florida Senate President Simpson for agriculture commissioner

TALLAHASSEE Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday gave a jolt to the political aspirations of state Senate President Wilton Simpson, saying that he would endorse Simpson if he ran for agriculture commissioner next year.
Simpson has publicly brushed aside questions about whether he will run for the Cabinet-level position that is currently held by Nikki Fried. Fried, the only statewide elected Democrat, is one of several Democrats expected to challenge incumbent Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2022.

Florida s Ron DeSantis Sees Approval Ratings Jump as His Star Rises Among Republicans Over COVID Orders

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis saw his approval rating jump on Wednesday, as his support among Republicans has increased over his recent COVID-19 orders.
In a poll released by the Florida Chamber of Commerce and conducted by Cherry Communications, 55 percent of Floridians said they approve of the job DeSantis is doing as governor, compared to 40 percent who said they disapproved.
Among political party affiliations, 88 percent of Republicans in the state approved of DeSantis while 73 percent of Democrats said the opposite. About 57 percent of independents said they approved of the work DeSantis has done as governor, while 37 percent disapproved.
