Minister Bostic confident about Government s COVID-19 response

Minister of Health and Wellness Colonel Jeffrey Bostic The Government of Barbados wants to reassure those on the island that there has been some stabilization of the present COVID-19 situation, as contact tracing efforts remain ongoing. Barbados recorded a major increase in cases between Friday, January 1, and Saturday, January 2. A total of 211 new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded, representing results from both visitors and locals. “I believe it is fair to say…that our situation seems to be stabilizing somewhat,” Chairman of the Cabinet COVID-19 Sub-Committee, Senator Dr Jerome Walcott remarked at the beginning of an interactive address to the nation on January 4.

Bus crawl a super spreader event

Article by Social Share A bus crawl attended by officers of the Barbados Prison Service and the Barbados Defence Force on December 26 is being considered by Government as a super spreader of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Barbados. So said Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic during a live Press Conference at Ilaro Court, which began after 8 p.m. today. He noted that 17 prison officers and four BDF officers attended the bus crawl. Bostic had announced yesterday during a press conference that of ten new positive cases of COVID-19 recorded then, two were prison officers. Aggressive contact tracing was started last night and will be completed by tomorrow, Bostic said tonight.

Attorney General announces new COVID-19 protocols that limit numbers at New Year celebrations

December 29, 2020 Government has vowed to leave no stone unturned in the fight to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, even as scores of Barbadians prepare to ring in the New Year. In fact, Attorney General Dale Marshall has announced a slew of new protocols that will take effect from Wednesday, December 30, 2020 until January 6, 2021, that place more stringent limits on all gatherings, including parties, pleasure cruises and even family outings at the beach. The new “limited” COVID-19 Directive follows weeks of “reckless” behaviour involving locals and tourists, which only intensified over the recent Christmas and Boxing Day weekend. According to the new directive, there will be no gatherings exceeding 150, except with the express permission of the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit. Hotels guilty of breaching COVID protocols to be delisted

Minister of Health and Wellness, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic has issued a stern warning to hoteliers who violate the COVID-19 protocols.  I want to say beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the time for speaking is over and those entities that continue to breach the protocol, we are going to take action, Bostic remarked during the press conference with COVID-19 sub-committee of Cabinet.  Bostic was flanked by the chairman of the sub-committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr Jerome Walcott, Attorney General Dale Marshall and Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George at Illaro Court.
