Content Modification - Facebook s New Campaign Should Have Free Speech Advocates Freaking Out

In 1964, Stanley Kubrick released a dark comedy classic titled “ Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.” The title captured the absurdity of getting people to embrace the concept of weapons of mass destruction. The movie came to mind recently with the public campaign of Facebook calling for people to change her attitudes about the Internet and rethink issues like “content modification” – the new Orwellian term for censorship. The commercials show people like “Joshan” who says that he was born in 1996 and grew up with the internet.” Joshan mocks how much computers have changed and then asks why our regulations on privacy and censorship cannot evolve as much as our technology. The ads are clearly directed at younger users who may be more willing to accept censorship than their parents who hopelessly cling to old-fashioned notions of free speech.

Democrats Throw Justice Breyer Surprise Retirement Party Hoping He ll Just Go With It

Democrats Throw Justice Breyer Surprise Retirement Party Hoping He’ll Just Go With It WASHINGTON Jumping out from hiding spots and popping champagne when the Supreme Court justice turned on the lights in his office, a group of Democratic Party leaders reportedly threw a surprise retirement party Friday for Stephen Breyer hoping that he would just go with it. “We’re sorry to see you go, but it’s really great to see someone going out on top,” said Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), patting the 82-year-old jurist on the back and toasting the end of his long and storied career in an effort to force him into agreeing to retire from the nation’s highest court. “Some of the naysayers said old Breyer will cling to this seat until he croaks, but you sure proved them wrong. I think I speak for everyone here when I say we respect you even more for making that hard decision that it was time to hang up your robe and ship out. In some ways, I envy you you’ll be out there on the l

The Day - At next opportunity, remove Murphy and Blumenthal from office - News from southeastern Connecticut

Published April 26. 2021 12:01AM  Our senators weighed in recently on two important and controversial subjects: Senator Chris Murphy on immigrants and Senator Richard Blumenthal on gun buy-back and gun violence. Murphy equated welcoming immigrants as part of our heritage and history. Does he not realize that those crossing our southern border are not immigrants but illegal entries overtly flaunting our laws and sovereignty? Likewise, does no one in government realize the United States is a finite piece of real estate with finite resources. We are now 330-plus million strong. Just what is the right population size for our country? What can our space and resources support? Many government funded studies, most worthless, are done. Perhaps one should be done on population versus land mass and resources.
