Certain aspects of the movement are self-evidently true: racism is regressive, violence never worked, and Senators Marsha Blackburn and Rick Scott are such a sweet couple. Others can be nuanced and multi-faceted. Here is what I hope to share with my children. History and progress Racism against Asian-Americans is an anguishing reality yet nothing new. In a broad sense, America has come a long way from the 1875 Page Act, which essentially legally assuming all female Chinese immigrants were prostitutes, to today having a vice president of Asian descent and a Chinese-American presidential candidate, both second-generation immigrants.
