COLUMBUS, Ind. – Jenni Carr, Centra Credit Union’s community involvement officer, was recently named the 2020 Advocate of the Year by the United Way of Bartholomew County (UWBC). Carr has been involved with the United Way for nearly four years.
“I’m grateful to be a part of this community where people believe in the amazing work of the United Way and to join the long line of other incredible Bartholomew County Advocates of the Year,” Carr said.
United Way Volunteer Action Center Director Alicia Monroe announced the award during UWBC’s virtual annual meeting. It recognizes those who “use their voice to educate and empower fellow community members to get involved.”

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The new location of Centra Credit Union, at 501 Washington Street in Columbus, is now open. The building offers the opportunity for Centra to better serve downtown members.
The new branch offers support for lending, accounts, and business, assistance with retirement, investing, and insurance plans, plus a walk-up Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) that connects with agents during ITM hours.
Centra members can park directly behind the building in a members-only parking lot, accessible through the alleys off of Fifth or Franklin Streets.
“Committing to the long-term success of a vibrant downtown Columbus market makes great sense for our community, our members, and our Credit Union,” said Centra President/CEO Rick Silvers. “Our Union Street team also has a wealth of Centra knowledge, and is the perfect fit for this new location.”

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Centra Credit Union (CCU) recently announced that its members, CCU employees, and the local community came together this past holiday season to raise more than $40,000 to support local children in need.
The money was provided through the Holiday Giving Program, which collects monetary donations for local non-profits who purchase gifts for children in need during the holidays.
“The generosity our local communities have shown is a perfect example of ‘People Helping People,” Centra Foundation Chairperson Jenni Carr said. “We look forward to helping local families every year, and we are incredibly grateful to all those who donated.”

During her tenure with Centra Credit Union, Karen Owens presented several oversized checks to local causes.
Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry, Girls Inc. of Jackson County and the Fraternal Order of Police Donald M. Winn Lodge 108 Cops and Kids program have been among the recipients.
All of those causes have one thing in common: Kids.
