Traffic diversion into interior roads causes hardship to those living in the area Residents of Thirumangalam and people who use the Jawaharlal Nehru Salai have urged the Highways Department to re-lay a 250 m stretch of the service lane close to the flyover and restore traffic on that portion. Vehicles proceeding towards Koyambedu have been diverted via interior roads, including Second Avenue and Shanthi Colony.

They want drinking water connections to be provided first Residents along the East Coast Road want the roadworks in their areas to be postponed until drinking water connections are provided by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB).
People in Kottivakkam, Palavakkam and Perungudi, which were brought under the Greater Chennai Corporation limits, have been waiting for piped water supply and an underground drainage network for many years now.

Rare photographs are on display; ‘virtual walk through’ facility and a nature house being set up Kilpauk water works, the city’s first water treatment plant, will soon house a water museum on its sprawling premises.
With several working models, installations and interactive games in place, the museum is being developed to create awareness on the city’s water supply infrastructure and importance of water conservation.

Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board office of the Assistant Engineer, depot 150 (Area XI), will be shifted temporarily at Karambakkam head works building at Chettiyar Agaram Main Road, Karambakkam, with effect from January 4.
According to a press release, the office is being shifted owing to the ongoing underground sewerage scheme work at Karambakkam. It is functioning at Avvai Street, Ponni Nagar.
Consumers may contact the depot office 150 in the new address for redress of their complaints and for payment of water and sewerage tax and water charges from January 4. For details, contact Assistant Engineer - (81449 30150) and Deputy Area Engineer 34 - (81449 30234).
