Chennai, May 19 : Tata Projects Ltd has bagged the order for construction of nine km twin-bored tunnels and associated works from Chennai Metro Rail Ltd.
It, however, did not disclose the value of the contract in its announcement. We are happy to have secured the Letter of Acceptance for this prestigious order which will benefit the citizens of Chennai. Our company is executing underground metro projects in Mumbai and Pune while having successfully completed Lucknow s underground metro line, Raman Kapil, Vice President & BU Head - Metros & Tunnels, said.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 13 (ANI): Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) in a joint venture with KEC International has been awarded Rs 1,147 crore contract by Chennai Metro Rail Ltd for construction of 7.95 km elevated viaduct section and nine elevated stations on corridor four of phase two.
HCC share in the JV is 51 per cent or Rs 585 crore. The scope of work involves civil works, architectural works, plumbing & drainage and temporary services, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
The nine elevated stations include Chennai Bypass Crossing, Rarriacharidra Hospital, lyyaparithangal Bus Depot, Katupakkam, Kumanan Chavadi, Karayan Chavadi, Mullai Thottam, Poonamallee Bus Terminus, Poonamallee Bypass.

The operation of long-distance trains and flights remained unaffected despite the total lockdown on Sunday in Chennai. While the lockdown brought life to a standstill in the city, a section of commuters who arrived by trains, faced difficulties in getting autorickshaws or taxis to reach their destination.
The city witnessed limited operation of public transport services of bus, metro and train, but the services were mostly for government staff. The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) operated 100 services for conservancy and other staff of the Greater Chennai Corporation.
