Andrea Meza, Miss Mexico was crowned Miss Universe for the year 2020, beating contestants from 74 other countries. Miss India Adline Castelino, was declared the third at the beauty pageant held on Sunday night.
This is the third Miss Universe victory for Mexico, with Ximena Navarrete and Lupita Jones being declared winners in 2010 and 1991, respectively.
The 69th edition of the event was held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, hosted by Mario Lopez and Olivia Cul. Singer Luis Fonsi of Despacito fame performed at the three-hour competition.

MESSAGES of support are rolling in for Natasha Joubert after her early exit at the Miss Universe.
The 69th edition of Miss Universe was held on 16 May at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, US with 74 contestants in the competition.
Just before the competition, Natasha had asked her late father to hold her hand.
On her Instagram page she wrote: “Pappa. If I had one wish it would be to see your face in the crowd tonight. To see how proud you are and hear your cheers from the crowd, but I know you’ll have the best view with the angels as you watch me on that stage.

The 69th edition of the festival, which took place on Sunday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, was a scaled-down affair in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

22-year-old Adline Castelino, who hails from Udupi in Karnataka, bagged 4th spot in the Miss Universe 2020 beauty pageant. The event that was held on Monday in Florida saw Mexico s Andrea Meza become the 69th Miss Universe, reaching the top spot amongst contestants from 74 other countries.
Mexico has won Miss Universe three times, with Ximena Navarrete and Lupita Jones winning in 2010 and 1991, respectively.

The Miss Universe 2020 title was won by Mexico’s Andrea Meza. The 69th Miss Universe was held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Meza, beat 73 other women, including runner-up Miss Brazil Julia Gama and second runner-up Miss Peru Janick Maceta Del Castillo, to win the title.
The 26-year-old has a degree in software engineering. She comes from Chihuahua, a city in Mexico.
The Miss Universe 2020 also an activist who focuses on women’s rights and inclusion and currently works closely with the Municipal Institute for Women, which aims to end gender violence.
Andrea is also the official Tourism Brand Ambassador for Chihuahua, promoting the best tourist attractions and rich culture.
