Miss Singapore Bernadette Belle Ong, Miss Myanmar Thuzar Wint Lwin, and Miss Uruguay Lola De los Santos wowed the crowd with their powerful statements during the preliminaries in Hollywood, Florida in the United States meant to showcase a nation s culture.
Ong born and raised in the Philippines wore a fiery sequined red leotard and thigh-high boots. The highlight was when she turned around: her red and white cape bore the words Stop Asian hate.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 14) Aside from Philippine bet Rabiya Mateo, two other Miss Universe candidates proudly graced the pageant s national costume competition on Friday wearing pieces designed by Filipinos.
In a Facebook post, Miss Singapore Bernadette Belle Ong said she reached out to Filipino designer Arwin Meriales to craft her national costume for the prestigious event.
Ong donned a sequined red leotard with thigh-high boots. But what turned heads online and on stage was her cape which bore the words Stop Asian hate.
Ong even noted that her whole costume was finished in just two days.
The Filipina beauty queen, who was looking fierce and fabulous in a black dress and dark makeup, also did the short introduction for a behind-the-scenes clip. Muba Cosmetics is the official hair and makeup sponsor for the 2020 Miss Universe pageant. The brand shared the gorgeous group photoshoot featuring Rabiya on Wednesday, just a few days before the coronation night.
