New Delhi: A Distribution camp for providing Aids and Assistive Devices to pre-identified Divyangjan under ADIP Scheme and Senior Citizens beneficiaries under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana of Government of India was held at D. K Convention Hall, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh today. The Chief Guest of the function Brigadier (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.), the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh inaugurated the function alongside with Shri Rattan Lal Kataria, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and Jal Shakti, Government of India in the presence Shri Alo Libang, Minister of Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh; Smt. Shakuntala D. Gamlin, Secretary, DEPwD; Shri Prabodh Seth, Joint Secretary, DEPwD; Ms. Niharika Rai, Commissioner, Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh; Shri D R Sarin, CMD ALIMCO and other dignitaries graced the occasion.

A total of 44 beneficiaries were provided wheelchairs/tricycles which were distributed among them by District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria- the chief guest of the event. He appreciated the efforts of Jeevan Sangharsh Trust chairperson, Rajni Sharma for organising such camps in different districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Planning officer Sukhleen Kour; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Jitender Mishra; District Social Welfare (DSWO), Samba, Deep Raj along with other officers/officials from district administration were also present.
A team from State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) also provided support in conducting the camp under the supervision of Director General of Police (Home Guards/Civil Defence/SDRF), DIG (Home Guards/Civil Defence/SDRF) and Commandant SDRF IInd Battalion, Jammu, SSP Nisha Nathyal.
Rs 20 crore for Regional Centre for empowerment of physically challenged in Tripura: Thaawar Chand Gehlot

Agartala, Feb 27: Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Thaawar Chand Gehlot has said that Rs 20 crore would be allocated for setting up of a Regional Centre for empowerment of the physically challenged people in the state.
Addressing an event attended by the senior citizens and physically challenged people at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here on Friday night, he said that the fund would be allocated within two months.
The programme was jointly organised by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a public sector enterprise and the Social Welfare Department of Tripura.
