TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (News Service of Florida) - Gov. Ron DeSantis expects late this month to reinstate a requirement that people in the unemployment system submit weekly “work search” updates.
Referring to some businesses saying they are unable to find new employees as they regroup from the COVID-19 pandemic, DeSantis said Wednesday unemployment claimants will likely have to start showing how they looked for work once an executive order waiving a work-search requirement ends May 29.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday that the state is giving $1,000 bonuses to all first responders in Florida.
This includes every sworn law enforcement officer, EMTs, firefighters and paramedics. Some want to defund the police, we re funding the police and then some, DeSantis said.
The governor made the announcement at the Satellite Beach Police Department in Brevard County with multiple officers and police chiefs from the region.
He said the money for the bonuses will come from the state s upcoming budget.

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday said he plans to follow through with his proposal to use money coming to Florida from a federal stimulus package to provide first responders with $1,000 bonuses for their work during the pandemic.
Surrounded by applauding police officers in front of the Satellite Beach Police Department, DeSantis said the bonuses for every sworn law enforcement officer, emergency medical technician, firefighter and paramedic in the state will be included in the state budget which he plans to sign in the coming weeks.
