South Canterbury nursing staff who work on their own in the community are trialling a lone worker app for their safety. South Canterbury District Health Board health and safety manager Pete Moore said it was trialling a phone app called Sheqsy (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality), pronounced “shek-see”, across district nursing, public health and community teams. “We have been following the development of technology and range of lone working devices now available on the market – such as duress alarms and online software,” Moore said.
