More than 13,500 hectares in Michoacan were certified to export mango
A total of 13,583 hectares of mango in Michoacan were certified for the 2021 export season. According to Rubén Medina Niño, head of the Secretariat of Rural Development and Agrifood (Sedrua), this state expects to export more than 84,000 tons of mango this year, surpassing the 80,000 tons it exported last year.
In 2020, the mangoes from Michoacán reached 17 countries in the world. The main destination was the United States, but the state also sent its mangoes to Canada, Japan, Spain, France, and the Netherlands, among other destinations.
The municipalities with the largest authorized area are Gabriel Zamora with 4,994 hectares, Mugica with 2,497, Paracuaro with 1,857, and Nuevo Urecho with 1,496.
