In his remarks during the go-live launch of the “Deliver-E” online delivery platform for farm goods, Agriculture Secretary William Dar said “online” is the new byword in safeguarding food security in the country.
“A more comprehensive digitalization of the agricultural supply chain could germinate further growth in the agriculture sector,” he said, noting that “fully embracing digitalization will drive the sector to journey towards the 4th Industrial Revolution or Agriculture 4.0.”
Deliver-E was organized in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Food Terminal Inc. (FTI), farm cooperatives, the private sector, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Together, on December 14, 2020, they held a virtual pledge signing.
QUEZON CITY, Dec. 17 The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), turned over to the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) P1 billion as additional funding for emergency loans to small farmers and fisherfolk.
In a virtual ceremony held on December 15, 2020, Agriculture Secretary and DA-ACPC Chair William Dar turned over to LANDBANK, represented by its President and CEO Cecilia Borromeo, the new funds for the Expanded SURE Aid and Recovery Project or SURE COVID-19, which is funded under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Republic Act 11494.
The SURE COVID-19 loan window is part of the DA’s Plant, Plant, Plant Program or the Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Kontra COVID-19 Program that aims to increase the country’s food adequacy level.
South Korea funds âsmartâ agri projects in Iloilo and Bukidnon
Filipino farmers will start adopting âsmart farming technologiesâ shared by South Korea aimed at enabling them to sustainably produce quality vegetables year-round.
This will be realized soon as the Department of Agriculture (DA) simultaneously launched two smart greenhouse projects in Iloilo and Bukidnon, funded through the Republic of Koreaâs official development assistance (ODA), worth 3.15 Billion Korean Won (US$2.7 million or roughly P135 million).
