Wildfires, extreme storms and other impacts of global warming are already causing devastation around the world. Those impacts will only become more dramatic over time unless we move to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions immediately and dramatically. To prevent the worst impacts of global warming, the United States must achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns that world carbon emissions must reach net zero around 2050 to limit global warming to 1.5°C over preindustrial levels – the level beyond which catastrophic climate changes could occur.[i]

Education Department seeks public input on foreign language standards – Sheridan Media

Wyoming’s 2013 foreign language content and performance standards are up for review, and the Wyoming Department of Education is asking for public input on the standards. Input collected on the foreign language standards will be shared with a foreign language standards review committee. The education department is also seeking those interested in serving on the review committee. Those interested in serving on the committee can complete a Call for Participants Survey by May 28. According to a news release from the education department, completing a survey expresses interest in participating but doesn’t committee the respondent to serving on the review committee. Standards review committee members will be chosen based on diversity in experience, role, region and school size.
