LONDON MARKET MIDDAY: Miners help lift FTSE 100 above 7,000 mark

(Alliance News) - Stock prices in London were higher at midday on Wednesday with miners driving the FTSE 100 back above the 7,000 mark, while investors look ahead to key US economic data in the afternoon.
The flagship UK stock index was up 81.95 points, or 1.2%, at 7,005.12. The mid-cap FTSE 250 index was up 47.65 points, or 0.2%, at 22,377.56. The AIM All-Share index was up 0.3% at 1,265.34.
The Cboe UK 100 index was up 1.3% at 697.30. The Cboe 250 was up 0.2% at 20,042.81, and the Cboe Small Companies down 0.1% at 14,675.26.
In mainland Europe, the CAC 40 in Paris was up 0.3%, while the DAX 30 in Frankfurt was up 1.2%.

(Alliance News) - Miners helped the FTSE 100 in its zealous rebound on Wednesday, with data helping to turn market focus away from interest rate jitters to the global economy s brightening outlook.
The FTSE 100 index closed up 116.13 points, or 1.7%, at 7,039.30, a healthy recovery after Tuesday s 0.7% fall.
The FTSE 250 ended up 55.86 points, or 0.3%, at 22,385.90 on Wednesday, and the AIM All-Share closed down 0.63 of a point, or 0.1%, at 1,261.04.
The Cboe UK 100 ended up 1.9% at 701.69, the Cboe UK 250 closed up 0.3% at 20,074.08, and the Cboe Small Companies ended up 0.1% at 14,702.33.
In European equities on Wednesday, the CAC 40 in Paris ended up 1.4%, while the DAX 30 in Frankfurt surged 2.1%.

2.39pm: Wall Street opens higher after ADP jobs data
The main indices on Wall Street opened on the front foot on Wednesday after the latest ADP jobs report showed a surge in private sector hiring in April, although less than analysts had expected.
