ZEELAND At a Monday council meeting, the Zeeland City Council approved a reorganization of city services and infrastructure departments.
With the changes, the assistant city manager and finance director, Kevin Plockmeyer, will have the added duty of supervising the departments responsible for streets, parks, cemetery, motor pool and facilities maintenance.
Plockmeyer s job title will change to assistant city manager of finance, city services and infrastructure.
The upcoming retirements of the city s public works operations superintendent, Steve Venlet, and facilities maintenance supervisor, Scott Nienhuis, prompted Zeeland to reexamine the staffing and structure of those departments.
The city considered combining the streets, motor pool, parks, custodial or facilities operations into one city services and infrastructure department and hiring a director to oversee that department.
